Pathetic V.1

pathetic…

the adjective considered negative
the word associated with worthlessness
the eight letter word for useless
an emotion of disgrace
defined by others’ success and unsuccess
society’s dismay

and yet… it is through this “pathetic-ness” that we move forward.

^will improve on the above

Far inside this labyrinth lies a secret none can share
The secrets we will never find out, a secret indeed they bear
Only those with wings or those who lack a good pair of legs
Will understand the secret of the labyrinth in the EGG

Passion Poem

Fire dancing inside of me
To rejoice, to sing, to dance
There is something that all of us need
Passion, the fire in our hand

Yeahh, a four line poem. thought of it on Jun 27, `09.

Sad smile only seen behind those locks of hair
eyes drowned out, blinded by the increasing complex
behind the posts, hiding in the shadows
fearing that you can’t catch up
you can’t stand up for yourself
hands clutched onto the threads of your jacket
forfeiting the chance to speak up
shyness, embarassment, we all don’t know
or even understand
circumstances, no
predicaments, no
inferiority complex, i guess so

*sigh*

The sound of sighing could be heard. The wind blowing gently across a beautiful town. Houses of yellow, blue, green, and various colors could be spotted from above. The trees, dotting along in an unorthodox manner, stood still as their leaves fluttered in the wind. Hanging from the branches, glass bells resounded a sweet tune as if they were singing to the wind. One could only close their eyes and savor the graceful notes reverberating. Some leaves caught drift of the breeze and took flight, the scenery was amazing and calm. A field of flowers flapped their petals and swayed in the wind. There stood Filier and another girl amidst the vibrant flowers of pink, a soft and bright kind of pink. Filier gazed into the drifting sky, cloudless and the sun shining brightly. Petals floated with a breeze. She closed her eyes and began to embrace the warmth of nature. The girl stood in front of Filier and admired Filier’s embracement. With her dress catching the waves of wind, the girl caught her hair and slid some behind her left ear, revealing a buttefly earring.

“You seem to enjoy yourself when you’re in the symphony garden.” spoke the girl. Filier opened her eyes and smiled. Her smile expressed a calm and gentle feeling. Filier, removing her diamond tiara, loosened her hair and relaxed her shoulders. “Yes.” Filier giggled, “It’s such a beautiful place… Letting your troubles take off in the wind. The sound of the bells jingling and the warm embrace you feel when you let the melody take you… It all feels so serene, Mimi.” Mimi laughed, “You feel like a princess again, don’t you?” Filier shook her head left and right. “No, not at all. I might be missing those times but to be able to be here and experience this gentle feeling makes up for it.” explained Filier. Mimi said, “Filier, I wish I could go back and be a princess again. I miss those days.” Mimi’s face showed a bit of sorrow. Filier sensed her sister’s sadness and she spoke, “Mimi, do you want to go back to the castle? It’ll be okay with me if you choose to go… But, please, I’ll remain here. I gave up the princess rite and wished it had never gone to me. But Mimi, you can accept it. Dad’s still waiting for us. Well, atleast for you Mimi.” “But what about you? It’s been almost a month that we’ve been hiding in this town disguised by a fake identity.” pointed out Mimi, “What will father say if he found out you were here?” Filier blinked and took a deep gaze into her sister’s eyes. “It’ll be fine. You won’t tell dad I’m here right? Just make up an excuse that you were just lost and scared. It was hard for you to find your way back to the palace.” Filier said. Mimi scoffed, “He’ll never believe those pathetic excuses.” This annoyed Filier. “I’ll just say that I have no idea where you went off to.” continued Mimi, “And that you’re somewhere in the land of Rhysdia.” Filier laughed, “Sure. Whatever, okay?”

Petals drifted in the wind….

Geodes and Gems

The weary Vance stood up from the floor and walked towards Rend. Filier stood up and headed towards Jane. She faced Vance, “We have to get out of this castle. There are too many dangers that crawl through the rooms.” Vance replied, “That’s true… I’ll get us outside.” He turned his face toward the distant hall, his eyes focused and his voiced roared, “Ocarina!” A blur of light manifested, its radiance catching Filier’s attention, at the core of the spherical light was the blue ocarina. It gleamed a soft blue. “Let’s hurry up,” spoke Vance, “come closer Filier.” Filier nodded, her arms heaved Jane along with her. Vance started playing a soft tune, it resonated through the empty halls leaving a luminous echo. A great light gathered around them, encircling the four people. Sparkles and glitter filled the empty space around them, which rapidly moved. The scenery around them started to shift from the gloomy halls into the warm field on the outskirts of the abandoned castle. The kingdom it once ruled was empty, only sadness loomed over the rubbles of houses. Jane and Rend woke up and began to sit upright. “We’re outside aren’t we? Look Rend, the castle looks much dirtier outside. The overgrowth of vines creeping from its sides, the smog stains from the fires that once surrounded the castle, the burnt houses who surrounded the castle grounds. It’s all disgusting to look at. The moat that we had to swim across reaked of something that rotted years ago, and the streets that spread like roots were cracked and destroyed from the constant stampedes of people who rushed from the accursed kingdom. Ughh…” spoke Jane coldly. “It’s true. The stories were right. Let’s head back.” sighed Rend.

The field was barren of flowers. What swept the land was grass… and not the good kind. It was dying grass, dry grass, and spots of dead grass. It was a dead field. Although the sun warmed the field, it was the worst kind of warmth. The four individuals walked and walked, taking some breaks between the gloomy outskirts. With Filier lagging behind, Vance and the other two slowed their pace. “You alright there Filier?” asked Vance as his head turned revealing a tired face. Filier lifted her head, “S-Sure… But I think we all should rest. Just in case of an unprecedented event you know?” They, all agreeing with Filier’s suggestion, looked for something to rest upon. “This grass will not do. It’ll be like sitting on needles.” complained Rend. As she turned to look for something else she spotted a tree in the distance. Its leaves were falling off but the branches provided enough shade to cool them off. Between the distance, spots of plantation could be seen but they were plucked. It was as if flowers once swayed in the spots. Vance, Rend, and Jane begin moving towards the tree. Filier took a gaze of the landscape, it was reminiscent. Ahh?! “This place…” Filier murmured. A flash of the scene could be seen. It flickered, flashing parts of the view. The plucked spots were once again filled with the beautiful flowers swaying in the breeze, and they flashed back and forth. The tree that lost most of its leaves were filled with deep green leaves. Delicate fruits hanged from the branches which swayed slightly with the zephyr. The dead land, transformed into that warm, delicious field of green, green grass. The image blurred in and out, flashed and flickered. Filier’s view of the gloomy landscape returned, all the while she remembered the voice that spoke to her. Filier rushed toward the tree hoping to gather any clue as to what that vision was. Remember me? Remember me… Vance, Rend, and Jane sat on one of the uplifted roots on the rugged tree, looking at Filier with askew. Filier looked down at the the tree’s roots and began looking around. She stopped at a particular spot, and began to chant a spell. Upon completion, a glamorous box arose from the muddy soil. She picked it up and opened it. Geodes and gems were inside the mysterious box. “Obsidian… This rock…” lightly spoke Filier. She looked up towards the sky. Her eyes afixed on the deep blue hues of the sky where clouds didn’t seem to appear. The cloudless view faded as Filier came into another memory.

a scene from the past

“Filier… Filier…” spoke a soft warm voice, “There you are.” Filier replied softly, “Wha-? Who are you?” That voice… it’s familar. “Dear Filier, don’t you remember who I am?” said the voice, “Please try to remember.” The white light lessened, it became less bright. A tree bearing fruits could be seen in the distance. A vast field of grass laid as far as one could see, with spots of flowers swaying with the wind. The breeze was soft and gentle, and the light sifting from the sun was warm. The clouds in the sky floated lazily while casting light shadows on the field. Filier walked toward the tree slowly, admiring the scenery. She picked a few flowers on the way to the tree. A child peered behind the beautiful tree, keeping her eyes locked on Filier. She began walking into full view, “You’re Miss Filier. Hello.” she said shyly. “H-how do you know my name?” asked Filier, “Who are you?” “Hehe…” the girl chuckled, “You should know Miss Filier. Please don’t forget me.” Filier’s eyes widen as the girl faded from her sight. The field began to fade into white, and so did the sky and the tree. “Wait! What’s happening?” Filier quivered. Everything was back to the bright white light shining, Filier could feel no ground anymore. She floated in the white light. “Please Filier. Try to remember. Search…” the voice spoke and faded.

Filier snapped back to reality. She continued with her spell… Vance, Rend, and Jane were nowhere to be found. As the light faded, Filier fell to the ground. Vance, Jane, and Rend were seen lying on the ground asleep. The beasts were gone and what had once looked like a war zone was now as normal as it can get. No broken tiles, no broken walls, no rubble at all. Filier’s white gown laid with her, its sparkle dulled and its glow dimmed. Filier’s beautiful hair spread across the ground. Vance’s bongos were pushed aside from his body. Rend laid in a position holding her bag. Jane was lying near the wall, with no weapon in sight.

a flight of words

The words drifted aloft…

”Hello there.” greeted Filier to Jane and Vance. They hesitated, “Hello.” spoke Jane. Vance awkwardly smiled back. Filier began to advance toward them with little steps, hoping they would welcome her. “Don’t worry you guys. She saved me.” opened Rend. “Saved you? Saved you from what?” asked Vance. “The horrific man you battled before.” replied Rend. Filier stopped walking. “What man? There was no man.” Filier said. She was trying to make an excuse for Damarius’s attempt to kill Rend. “I found you lying on the floor bleeding from a wound on your stomach.” continued Filier. “Well… whatever. We have to find a way out of this gloomy place.”

“Hmm… how did Rend get a wound on her abdominal area, Filier?” questioned Vance with suspicion glaring from his eyes. His voice felt like a strange cold breeze filled with distrust, and Jane continued to walk on ahead scouting for any danger that might be coming their way. Filier hesistated to answer. She looked about, thinking of an excuse. Rend broke in, “Let’s use a truth spell on Filier!” “WHAAA?” exclaimed Filier, “NONONONONO!” “And why can’t we Filier? Is there something you’re hiding from us? Is there huh?” Vance asked as his suspicion escalated. “It’s just… oh nevermind.” sighed Filier. Filier ran on ahead to join Jane, Vance and Rend were left confused. Vance’s feelings told him to be careful. “You can never be too sure with those kinds of characters.” told Vance to Rend. “But she seems like a good person,” replied Rend, “and she doesn’t seem to be malicious either. If she did, she would have hurt us by now.” “That may be true… but we’re together. It might be hard going up against three people.” pointed out Vance. “Hmm… you’re right. Well… I guess we’ll just have to see…” spoke Rend.

Up ahead, Filier rushed towards Jane. Jane, ready for anything, struck a defend pose against Filier. Filier, in surprise, took on a fighting pose too. She thought Jane was playing around with her. Jane spoke, “Hey, what are you doing? Are you going to fight me or something?” “NO! I thought we were playing a game.” Filier said and then chuckled. Jane, unfazed at the gesture, noticed something behind Filier. It was something rushing towards them. It was a small speck which grew and multiplied. “Somethings coming! Everyone be careful!” shouted Jane. Filier spoke, “But I didnt do anything to you.” Jane’s eyes focused behind Filier, and Filier turned around only to be surprised as well. Filier’s bubbly personality faded as she took on a serious fighting stance. Hordes of beasts were rampaging through the hall. Vance and Rend caught up to Jane and Filier. Filier spoke, “I’ll scan them. Rinithao.” Filiers eye’s glowed bright blue and she focus ahead on the beasts. She said, “The beasts are Heroids and Grungees. They are coming from a source. I can’t locate it though.” Her eyes returned to normal. Vance strategized, “Build a barrier. It’ll help us take them down.” The three girls agreed. Vance called for his bongos, and with a rapid beating and earth wall rose before them. Rend commanded, “Tantos!” as she then layered a wall of wild briars between them and the earth wall. Filier suggested they set traps before them. “Agra Velacio.” spoke Filier, the ground a few feet before them glowed then stopped glowing. “I’ve set magical traps. It’ll slow them down when they set it off. That way, we’ll be able to defeat them.” Vance called for his brown violin. “Everyone prepare!” shouted Jane as she saw the earth wall beginning to hold them back. Cracks formed and the earth wall slowly crumbled. Rend pulled out the newly acquired book and Jane noticed, “When did you get that?” Rend spoke quickly, “I found the special book. It controls dark runes.” Filier looked back. There it is. She found it. Rend spoke, “Yener Orgre Vaios!” As the beasts broke the wall, a group of shadow lances appeared from nowhere and destroyed the first wave of beasts. Another wave of beasts came right after. The briars damaged them but they were destroyed when the beasts slashed through. Vance strung multiple waves of slicing wind but the beasts kept appearing. Jane focused on destroying the beasts closest to them. She brought forth a double sided blade which easily sliced through any of the beasts. Filier shouted, “Enough!” A flight of words drifted from Filier’s mouth and the whole place was enveloped in a strong bright glow.

A Mystery too…

Despair. It filled Rend’s thoughts and it left her paralyzed.

The manaical man hastened towards Rend. He impaled her abdomen and she began to cough out blood. Her deep red blood splattered across the man’s insane countenance and her eyes began to slowly close. He threw her body across the hall with great force but before her dying body hit the wall, a feathery down caught stopped her and let her down. A girl stood behind Rend clothed in white with a flowing dress. “How dare you hurt an innocent girl Damarius! You know that’s against the rules.” said the girl. She glanced at Rend’s body and laid her hands over the body. She spoke gently, “You’re safe, don’t worry. Soulius Rutre Saev.” “How dare you heal her Filier!” shouted Damarius, “It is not your duty to save her. For all we know, she could be the Incarnation.” “No, it is my duty to protect those who are not involved in this.” argued Filier. With a glare she spoke, “GO BACK. Aseum!” and Damarius was gone with a feather left where he stood.

Filier stood before Rend when she woke up and helped Rend up. “Are you alright?” asked Filier. “Y-yes I’m fine but how? Or rather where did the manaical man go?” replied Rend. Filier motioned for Rend to walk with her, “Uhmm what man?” “Wait! How am I alive? I thought I was dying but hmmm?” spoke Rend. They began traversing halls and looked for Vance and Jane. “So uhm, what are you? You know like magic and stuff?” asked Filier. “I use runes. I can do things like this.” said Rend, she then chanted a simple spell and a ball of fire danced in front of them. “Wow! So you’re a runist or runer or something like that?” replied Filier. “Yupp! Hey Filier do you have any abilities?” asked Rend. “Yes. Oh, by the way, my name is pronounced Fihl-Lii-Ey, not Fihl-Lii-Ehr.” corrected Filier. Rend had a embarrassed face and looked down, “Sorry, Filier.” “Hey, keep your chin up. It’s not a big problem. I just wanted to clarify things.” said Filier, “Anyways, so about me. I can do light magic. Something like runes, I guess…?” “Oh cool! Light runes? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of someone who can control light runes. Wait, are there even light runes?” “Ahaha, I don’t know. We’ll just call it a mystery.” said Filier. Suddenly Vance and Jane appeared in a flash of light and stood before them. “Woah you guys! The strangest things happened to me.” Rend spoke with joy and excitement. “Wow, that’s another mystery too.” whispered Filier to herself.

Reprieve But…

While Vance, now back into his teenage body, laid sleeping, Rend sat on the table and began wondering. I wonder what happened… Who could’ve been so powerful as to leave Jane and Vance tired and in need of rest. Even after that battle, Jane should have been able to knock that thing out. Jane was at full strength… Rend stood and went over to Jane. Jane sat on the bed in the corner, it seemed as if she felt some negative feeling. “Jane, are you alright?” asked Rend. Jane just sat there staring, seemingly out of mind and seeking her conscience for answers. “Jane… Now I’m starting to worry how terrifying that man was.” whispered Rend to herself. You guys wait here… I’m going to go around the place and look for clues about that being… As Rend was towards the door, the room was dead silent. She tugged on the ring of metal which served as the doors handle. The door budged but only a little. It was locked from the outside and there was no key in sight. “Prestor Kehi.” whispered Rend, and the door’s lock was gone. She crept through…

Rend, closing the door behind her, began to walk around the jail halls. The halls reeked of dirty cells and smelly fungi. “Ughhh, I hate this… It stinks so much. I don’t know if I can take it.” complained Rend as she covered her nose and picked up the pace. Rend walked through the halls and discovered the jailer’s office. It was different from the other rooms. It had two shelves full of books, a nice neat bed, a clean bathroom, and all those kitchen items like a table, chairs, and such. “Woah! This place is much better than the rest of the rooms.” spoke Rend. A moment later, Rend smacked her forehead saying to herself, “Duh Rend. Of course this would be nicer than the rest of those cells. This is the jailer’s room. At least the stench of the halls aren’t bothering me here.” Rend advanced towards the shelves of books, and picked the one that looked much unusual from the others. She wiped the dust off the cover of the book, and it was unable to be read. It was too worn out to make out the title of the book. “Maybe I’ll get some clue inside.” stated Rend.

Rend had flipped through many pages but they all were written with the same thing. “The gods have sent desolation upon the king’s wicked soul.” I wonder what this means? Rend decided to take the book with her and placed it in her bag. She began looking for more clues and happened to stumble upon another interesting book. It was designed with a black rose which petals were falling into water. “Wait is this?” said Rend. She began flipping, turning, and wildly browsing the unusual book, and she realized it was a spell book which contained the activation of a particular rune, dark. As she was turning the page, she heard a ramble of footsteps closing in on the jailer’s door. “Uh oh, what should I do?” panicked Rend, “Oh I know!” As she ran towards the bed, she changed into a child like stage which allowed her to easily slip and hide under the bed. The door slammed open which caused Rend to quietly gasp. She hid quietly and observed two feet constantly moving around the room. She heard the flailing of the chair, the overturning of the table, and the fall of the book shelf. “UAAAARRRGH! I will find them.” said a gruesome voice. The being began walking towards the door but suddenly stopped before leaving the room. “Hmm? This room hides a presence… It seems familiar…” spoke the voice. It began walking towards the bed, Rend becoming filled with nervousness started to cry silently. Oh no, please don’t look under the bed. Please don’t. The book… The feet were just next to the bed when the being began to grab ahold of the bed. As it started to lift, Rend opened her newly acquired book. She read, “A dark cover spell. Yeveth Osa.” A plume of darkness began to envelope the room, the being had flipped the bed but it became too dark to see. Rend whispered, “Tant Isve.” and a group of vines begane to entangle the being. She took off in a rush towards the exit and began retracing her steps to Jane and Vance. “Oh my, I can’t run like this.” she announced. One minute she was a child and in the next, she became her natural teenage form. She rushed and began looking through the book.

Rend and her breaths filled the vast halls. She flipped through the book to find and helpful spells. Before her shone a brilliant light, “What’s this?” questioned Rend. The figure which attacked Jane and Vance appeared before Rend. “Why do you walk these halls? Let your soul scream whilst I take it from you.” spoke the man. With a gasp, Rend began to run backwards saying, “Tantos!” Giant briars broke through the floors between the exhausted Rend and the mysterious man and began flailing violently. The man materialized his lance, “Lance of Seraphs, bring this soul to whim.” With a swing of his divine lance, the briars immediately were split and obliterated. “Oh no…” noticed Rend. The man in green advanced toward her and his eyes pierced hers. His cold stare brought Rend to deep fear. Rend began to quiver violently as her courage diminished rapidly. Her reliable briar spell had let her down and her lips were frozen with fear. Rend knew she would soon die in the hands of this monster.
